Cohesity DataPlatform Cloud Edition available on Google Cloud Platform to push enterprise-grade data backup and protection

Cohesity announced on Monday that Cohesity DataPlatform Cloud Edition is now available on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), providing an enterprise-grade solution for backup and recovery of applications that use Google Compute Engine. As a result, Cohesity now offers data backup and protection for a wide array of public clouds, empowering enterprise customers with an incredibly efficient and easy-to-manage solution for secondary data workloads across multi-cloud architectures.

Cohesity DataPlatform Cloud Edition on the Google Cloud Platform delivers web-scale platform attributes such as unlimited scalability and resiliency for backing up applications running on Google Cloud Platform. The integrated solution provides enterprise-grade backup of applications that use Google Compute Engine (GCE), the infrastructure-as-a-service component of GCP, addressing a growing market demand.

Cohesity’s native integration with Google Cloud makes it simple to backup and protect cloud virtual machines (VMs) compared with fragmented legacy alternatives that require a separate solution for backup of cloud applications. Cohesity customers also benefit from an API-based platform architecture that enables easier and faster recovery, due to indexing and search capabilities.

The integrated solution also brings key architectural benefits associated with Cohesity DataPlatform, such as global deduplication and compression, to Google Cloud Platform.

Cohesity announced in May expanded integration with Microsoft Azure to empower enterprises to run a wide range of secondary data workloads seamlessly across on-premises and Azure infrastructure. Joint customers can now optimize long-term retention utilizing Cohesity Data Platform with the global scale and cost-effectiveness of Azure.

Cohesity creates a comprehensive hybrid cloud data fabric that now includes long-term data retention and archiving as well as backup, disaster recovery, and test and development. By bringing together capabilities that have traditionally been delivered through separate point solutions on different infrastructure and consolidating them on a unified, easy-to-manage platform, Cohesity is bringing simplicity to the enterprise data center with Azure.

Cohesity DataPlatform now makes it easy for enterprises to take advantage of Azure Archive Blob Storage for low-cost archiving. This option is ideal for long-term retention of data that is unlikely to be accessed in the near future.

Schneider Electric, a multinational corporation that provides energy management and automation solutions, was able to eliminate its reliance on legacy backup solutions including tape storage and shift to a hybrid cloud approach that improved backup snapshot frequency and recovery times.
