Liqid provides disruptive NVMe solid-state offerings based on Marvell’s NVMe switch to deliver solid-state performance, efficiency, agility

Liqid, provider of composable software technologies and PCI-Express (PCIe) fabrics, announced it is working with Marvell to deliver agile, high capacity, ultra-performance solid-state NVMe solutions based on Marvell’s 88NR2241 intelligent NVMe switch. The new NVMe products will be released under the Liqid Element SSD brand and built leveraging Marvell’s NVMe chipset solutions technology.

The Marvell 88NR2241-enabled products from Liqid are designed to provide the data center with enterprise-class storage performance and reliability necessary to bridge the gap between traditional workloads, such as databases and virtualization, to next-generation workflows, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, VR/AR, and other emerging applications.

The Liqid Composable platform empowers users to manage, scale, and configure physical, bare-metal server systems in seconds and then reallocate core data center devices on-demand as workflows and business needs evolve. Liqid Command Center software enables users to dynamically right-size their IT resources on-the-fly.

With multiple patents issued and pending, the new Liqid Element NVMe Design powered by the Marvell intelligent NVMe switch offers among the industry’s most substantial return on investment (ROI), with full solid-state performance and features at a consistently lower cost per GB compared to solutions based on previous specifications.

The collaborative effort between Marvell and Liqid also improves NAND supply chain flexibility by leveraging standard SSD modules, while also maximizing cost savings with its Dual Ported capability.

“The 88NR2241 switch is designed to enable one of the highest performance and widest feature sets available in the market today, and we are excited to work closely with Marvell to introduce industry-leading, solid-state NVMe solutions characterized by unprecedented agility, flexibility, and multi-dimensional value,” said Sumit Puri, CEO and co-founder, Liqid. “Traditional, high-performance workloads are giving way to data-hungry artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, and other high value applications driving economic development through the next decade. Liqid Element NVMe solutions deliver end-to-end data agility for the most demanding workflows of today and the future, while setting a new value standard for total cost of ownership (TCO).”

“By combining Liqid’s expertise in PCIe fabrics with Marvell’s intelligent NVMe switch, the new Element NVMe offerings bring an innovative solid-state solution that are designed to achieve exceptional levels of quality of service with low latency and high data throughput exceeding critical cloud and enterprise data center requirements,” said Nigel Alvares, vice president of SSD and data center storage solutions at Marvell. “With consistently high IOPs for demanding workloads, dual-port capability for multi-host access, and power loss protection for maximum data reliability, the Liqid and Marvell collaboration sets a new performance and reliability standard targeting high-performance applications across multiple high-growth market verticals.”
