Webtrends scales out virtual data center with Isilon

Isilon Systems Inc. announced on Wednesday that Webtrends Inc. has deployed Isilon scale-out storage to power its development environments. Using Isilon's X-Series in combination with VMware vSphere, Webtrends has consolidated more than 700 virtual servers onto a single file system, simplifying storage management and eliminating the data fragmentation and low resource utilization common with traditional SAN (storage area network) and NAS (network attached storage) in virtual environments. With Isilon, Webtrends has improved the performance, utilization and management of its virtual servers, maximizing its investment in virtualization, while reducing IT operating costs.

Dell loses bidding war of 3PAR to HP, while the latter will pay $33 per share

Dell Inc. announced Thursday that it will not increase its most recent proposal to acquire 3PAR, and that Dell has ended its discussions regarding a potential acquisition. Dell is entitled to receive a $72 million break-up fee from 3PAR upon the termination of its merger agreement.
